Known as radiation therapy in the US, radiotherapy (XRT) is a treatment used to help cancer patients, as well as those with thyroid and blood disorders. Present figures suggest that radiotherapy is used by 40% of cancer sufferers in the UK; the length and duration of the treatment is necessarily bespoke.  Radiotherapy works by means of controlled doses of x-ray radiation, which is targeted at the cancerous cells in an effort to destroy them.
